Backdoor Draft

Men and women who have already served their four year active duty obligation are being recalled to serve in Iraq. These are people that have been out of the Marines up to 4 years. They are working and raising their families again in civilian life. They are NOT in the "regular reserves". Now they are asked to give up jobs and their lives for Bushes War. They should ONLY be needed in an EXTREME emergency. This is another Bush disaster that NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!! It's only because of the MASSIVE incompetence of this "president" and his Chickenhawk administration that our young men and women have to risk their lives to clean up the mess he is leaving this and future generations to clean up.
Marines Call 1,800 From Ready Reserve

The Marine Corps is recalling 1,800 reservists to active duty, citing a shortage of volunteers to fill some jobs in Iraq.

Members of the branch's Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) will receive letters this week about plans to mobilize them involuntarily for a year, said Lt. Col. Jeffrey Riehl of Marine manpower and reserve affairs.

Last week, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates approved the action, under which reservists would report for duty in October and deploy early next year, Riehl said.

From the 1,800 Marines called, officials hope to get 1,200 for aviation maintenance, logistics support, combat arms and other skills needed for the early 2008 rotation into Iraq.
