Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "

As the Aspens turn so do the Aides

There are now 2 aides to Cheney that are reported to have flipped in the CIA leak investigation.

Second Cheney aide cooperating in leak probe, those close to case say

Jason Leopold and Larisa Alexandrovna

A second aide to Vice President Dick Cheney is cooperating with the special prosecutor's probe into the outing of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, those close to the investigation say.
Late Monday, several sources familiar with Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s probe said John Hannah, a key aide to Vice President Dick Cheney and one of the architects of the Iraq war, was cooperating with Fitzgerald after being told that he was identified by witnesses as a co-conspirator in the leak. Sources said Hannah was not given immunity, but was likely offered a “deal” in exchange for information that could result in indictments of key White House officials.
Now, those close to the investigation say that a second Cheney aide, David Wurmser, has agreed to provide the prosecution with evidence that the leak was a coordinated effort by Cheney’s office to discredit the agent's husband. Her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, was one of the most vocal critics of the Iraq war.

Hey- good blog, excellent...who is Jason Leopold ? ( that name rings a bell)...I thnk Marshall is one of the leakers, I think Millerwise is my bet- look up her resume- she has worked all ends of this administration.....We need leakers of who leaked....not your usual Deep Throat situation...New York daily News seems to have Insiders bringing them info...the prosecutor needs the press- not the NYT to start building trust with the public, but also some of the Insiders need a place to bring leads...they have witnessed plenty....I think from here on out, it will unravel wider by the day...I think we have our Watergate moment....

Have you thought of joining the Big Brass Alliance ? I did not see you the blog roll...just a thought.

Hey enigma, thanks.
Leopold has had stories published all over so you've probably run into him before. A lot on the California Energy debacle I think and Enron.
If both Hannah and Wurmser are cooperating then John Bolton must be in the middle of this too. Wurmser was his assistant at the time.
Fitzgerald may have a room full of "assistants" trying to make a deal. He's running a fairly leak proof operation though, (which in the long run may be a good thing) so we'll just keep guessing where this mystery is headed.
Whatever comes down it looks like it’s going to be big.

I agree about Bolton being looked at as well, I still wonder why he visited Judy twice while in prison.
( I followed Enron closely- that is where the name is from -thanks)...do you think Millerwise is also a potential helper to Fitz? And yes I think Fitz runs a tight ship....I think that there are enough people in DC that do not support corruption- and are embarrassed and ashamed..I mean some of these folks are lifers- worked in DC forever- and they have witnessed criminal activity- they are in bad place....I think some do have a conscience...esp.the middle-management lifers....and yes, it has grown tenacles, and more to sprout...big, yes, too big to spin or weave a "better"picture at this point....
