Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "

Indiana Voting

Everything went smooth for me, of course I live in a very "red" district.

However, from the IndyStar:
7:13 AM -- Voting machines not started in half of county's precincts
Marion County officials are facing widespread problems bringing new electronic voting machines online this morning.

County Clerk Doris Ann Sadler said the problems involve about half of the county’s 914 precincts.

The problem, she said, is that poll workers have forgotten how to start and run the machines.

Paper ballots are being used where machines are not working, the clerk said. She said 50 technicians are going from precinct to precinct to get the machines working. That process, she said, will take several hours to complete.

Sadler said she expected some problems and does not see serious issues at this point because people can still vote.
Then they said by about 9:14 AM that only about 90 “problem polls” remained on the Marion County repair list.

Only about 90 “problem polls” left. That's just one county, the blue ONE!!!

I have heard they may extend voting here, polls normally close at 6pm

There are already problems here in Fla. Seems someone put the wrong cartridges in the machines. No idea what that does for the machines. Happily they discovered this early so perhaps they can get it fixed quick.

Mr Pop and I were talking on the way to vote this morning. Until 2000, we don't recall there being so many evil doers involved with voting. Back then you voted and didn't have to worry about your government cheating you of your voice. Maybe it happened just as much, but we didn't hear of it.

POP, I think the "2000" election brought voter fraud (and suppression) into the spotlight but there is no doubt it has always been a problem. Computerized voting has created another door for the "evil doers" to get in. Even the pentagon has been hacked, so what chance does Diebold have?

Just voted. No probs unless they're switching my vote, of course. UNBELIEVABLY long line. The poll worker said it had been like that ALL MORNING. Yes, baby, yes.
OMG, one of the candidates was Quanah Parker. If you know anything about Texas history, that should give you pause.

I was not familiar with Quanah Parker HCG, but I am now. :) I looked him up on Wikipedia. He's been dead for like a hundred years so I was thinking "what is HCG talking about"? Then I found that there certainly is a Quanah Parker running for judge in Texas. Interesting story, I wonder if he's related?
