"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. "
Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?
Four.
Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
Abraham Lincoln

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

Kerry is Not The Story, Chaos in Iraq is

October's death toll in Iraq is at 105. President Bush is trying to make this election about anything BUT the Iraq debacle. Bush would rather go out campaigning for any nitwit that will let him. He's even back to jumping on John Kerry for his latest gaff. Kerry was calling YOU stupid George!!! You know what else, I DON"T F****** CARE!!! Get back to Washington and act like the "Commander and Chief" you keep telling us you are! John Kerry is NOT the story, 105 Dead Americans fighting in Iraq is THE STORY. According to the United States Central Command, Iraq is moving towards chaos that is THE STORY.

Last night Olbermann, in reference to the Kerry gaff said :"Bush is too stupid to know when someone calls him stupid." Amen to that.

IRAQ is a FIASCO, men and women have been dying for over 3 YEARS. October's death toll was the 4th worst and there was no major battle involved. Hundreds of billions of dollars down the toilet. The Republican led Congress has had NO oversight, none.

The Commander and Chief needs to get off the campaign trail and back to Washington and get this crap under control!!!

The Dems need to stand in support of Kerry instead of trying to distance themselves. He is being set up by Rove with RW talking points as they twist every word he said. They have no shame, and will do anything to stay in power.

It's unfortunate that Kerry didn't speak clearly and concisely because the joke he told was not clearly understood. He was obviously talking about Bush but out of context it sounded bad. He apologized this morning on Imus, on MSNBC, so that should put this to bed. I'd rather Kerry just back away now because he shouldn't be the issue and is not needed to help anybody.

Keep the focus on Iraq and all the other issues from health care to corruption and lack of oversight. Just 6 more days, pleeeeeease don't let the Dems screw this up.

Did you hear O'Reilly is actually taking up for Kerry?
6 more days...
6 more days...
AUGH!!!
I can't stand it!

Blogger researcher said ... (5:19 PM) :

Shelly, I read a little blurb about O'Reilly. He must not have checked his email for the talking points.
6 more days, hang in there.

And then he apologized. Urrrggghhh!

Blogger researcher said ... (8:44 PM) :

Kvatch, It is ridiculous to have to apologize for something you didn't say because someone else said you said something you didn't say.

Hey, that sounded like something Kerry would say.

I think he made the apology to end the discussion. He took the hit for the "party" because he isn't a candidate and at this point has become a distraction from the people that should be apologizing.

Blogger Gracie said ... (9:16 PM) :

This entire situation re: Kerry's comments has Rove's fingerprints all over it. The Repubs can say or do anything and get away with it but for once Kerry calls the boy king out on his lies and takes the sword in the end. It's disgusting.

researcher, I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of Kerry's inaccurate choice of words but at least he was attempting to call Bush out on his BS. Now it's backfired. GRRRR!

Blogger researcher said ... (9:46 PM) :

Gracie, I could tell you wanted Kerry to stand and fight. I was glad to see him come back with a strong rebuttal after the Repub attack too. I should have posted what he said. If he were a candidate in this election I doubt he would have backed down.

Blogger Pam said ... (10:40 PM) :

When you have no real substance, all you can do is jump on botched jokes.

I'd like to hear all of the assinine things Bush has said replayed in these final days. It would take every minute of the remaining 6 days to play them all.

Blogger researcher said ... (11:04 PM) :

Pam, you're right about that. They are showing nothing but desperation by jumping on Kerry.

If you put together a video of all the Bush gaffs it would crash YouTube.

Blogger Gracie said ... (2:59 AM) :

You didn't need to post all of it, researcher. I didn't mean to sound angry with you so my apologies if that's how I came across earlier. It's the Repubs that are to blame despite Kerry's unfortunate choice of words. Does that make sense?` They get everything they want, always at the expensive of others.

Pam nailed it. How many stupid remarks has Bush made yet the media gives him a pass? It WOULD take up every second of the day to play them all.

Blogger pissed off patricia said ... (6:46 AM) :

Actually maybe it's best if bush stays busy playing and doesn't make things any worse. Can they get worse? God, I hope not, but all indications are they will.
