Famous Quotes

"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. "
Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?
Four.
Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
Abraham Lincoln

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
George W. Bush, May 24, 2005

Bush Judges

Bush, in his arrogance, has resubmitted judicial candidates that were previously rejected for federal judges. He refuses to work constructively with Democrats and expects every decision he makes to go unchallenged. Congress confirmed 204 of his nominees and rejected only 20. The Democrats have every right to oppose these judges and they should continue the fight.
U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va, has been one of the most outspoken on this matter. He has come under criticism for this recently for his "Hilter" remarks. See Robert Byrd: Behind the Times for a rebuttal to this. I do not agree Byrd should have used the analogy because it allows the republicans to change the issue from Bushes poor choice of judges to Byrd's poor choice of words. Even if the point he was trying to make is correct.
The Senator had a better choice of words in the Senate on Thrusday remarking on the "nuclear option" to prevent debate on judicial nominees. Read: A Cry for Freedom in the U.S. Senate.
It is important that the minority voices continue to be heard
