Thomas Jefferson, 1781

Feingold Announces He Won't Seek Presidency

My first pick is out already.

From The AP:
Feingold Won't Run For President
Senator Russ Feingold Announces He Won't Seek the 2008 Democratic Nomination

(AP) U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold has decided against seeking the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, saying he wanted to focus on his work in the Senate.

In a letter posted on his political action committee's Web site, Feingold said he was excited that Tuesday's elections gave Democrats control of both chambers of Congress, giving them the chance to "undo much of the damage that one-party rule has done to America."

"We can actually advance progressive solutions to such major issues as guaranteed health care, dependence on oil and our unbalanced trade policies," he wrote.

My first pick too.

I'm been told he'll better serve as a Senator but this still is bad news. He's one of the few willing to stand on his beliefs and the rule of law without succumbing to political pressure.

That's a good point Gracie. He can stay focused and maybe get something accomplished in the Senate. So who's bandwagon now?

He was my top pick too. Too progressive to be electable, perhaps?

Blogger researcher said ... (11:05 PM) :

He may feel that way Pam. At least he won't be distracted in the Senate now.

He's also too freakin' smart to run. I wanted him to in the worst way, but I understand why he isn't. Who in their right mind would want to be in charge of mopping up the crap bush will leave behind. I guess now my dream ticket would be gore and clark. Sadly I fear we will have no choice and we will have to hold our noses and vote for Hillary. I sure hope not.

Long way to go POP. Somebody will rise above Hillary, that bar isn't very high.
