"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. "
Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Four.
Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."

Rove must go

Karl Rove, Bushes Deputy Chief of Staff and known as Bushes Brain, has become embroiled in the scandal over the outing of a CIA operative. The outing occurred in retaliation to Joseph Wilson. The CIA operative was Wilson’s wife and she was working under deep cover at the CIA on weapons of mass destruction. Before the war in Iraq, Joseph Wilson had been sent by the CIA to Niger in Africa to find out if Iraq had tried to get uranium from there. He reported that Iraq had NOT tried to get any. This did not stop Bush from telling the world that Iraq was trying to buy uranium from Niger in the lead up to war. Wilson then reported to the New York Times that the Bush administration was full of crap. After the Times article someone in the Bush White House called five different reporters and told them that Wilson was not credible and only went to Niger at his wife’s request. Then went on to name his wife, Valerie Plame. It is a Federal crime to "out" an undercover CIA operative. To do it for political gain is incredibly corrupt.
The only reporter that wrote an article was the scumbag Robert Novak. Since then there has been a two year investigation to find out who leaked the name. Two other reporters, Matt Cooper at Time magazine and Judith Miller at the New York Times were threatened with jail if they did give there source to the special prosecutor. Miller is in jail now. Cooper has now said that he will talk. From his statements we now know that Rove was involved in this crime.
Bush said two years ago he would fire the leaker. Now he won’t talk about it. This is not a case of a whistlblower in the White House. This is the government at the highest level using its power to crush a whisleblower. And they were willing to commit a crime to do it.
Bush should remove Rove immediately, he cannot be trusted with top secret material. He has shown that politics is more important than national security. Outing a CIA operative is a high crime, doing it in a lead up to war is worse.
