The Degeneration of News
CBS News has gone from Edward R. Murrow to Katie Couric. That pretty much sums up the state of news in America. She gets paid something like $60,000 a day to read a teleprompter and say whatever the corporations allow her to say. At the end of the movie "Good Night, and Good Luck" we hear Edward R. Murrow speak of the future with television: “This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box.” The Instrument of Television |

I think Keith Olbermann is the closest we have to Murrow today. And he's relegated to a cable network instead of widely viewed.
Great video!!
Olbermann has stepped up and made some great "special comments". He started with Rumsfeld last month and hasn't let up. I hope he keeps it going.
Thanks for that link, researcher. I wish I had HBO!! If you watch it, let me know what you think. I'll have to wait for the DVD.
Pam, I don't have HBO either :) It might show online.
I just wonder how much longer they'll keep him on air? His commentaries give me hope during this ongoing nightmare.
So glad somebody in the corporate media is speaking truth to power, imagine that.

Gracie,
Hopefully his ratings continue to climb and they will keep him on. The political climate has changed enough that he just might survive.
(that show on HBO Pam mentioned is here about voter fraud)
Great, thanks for the link. I'll have to stop by when time permits to visit Pam's site at length, it looks like my kind of place.
It is sad when more effort goes into how the news person looks on tv, than into what the person will report.
Look at all the women on the cable news channels. Very attractive, but mostly dumb as dog fecal matter.
