"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. "
Thomas Jefferson, 1781

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Four.
Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
Abraham Lincoln

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
George W. Bush, May 24, 2005

Book Says Bush Aides Dismissed Christian Allies
By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

WASHINGTON, Oct. 12 — A former deputy director of the White House office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is charging that many members of the Bush administration privately dismiss its conservative Christian allies as “boorish” and “nuts.”

“National Christian leaders received hugs and smiles in person and then were dismissed behind their backs and described as ‘ridiculous,’ ‘out of control,’ and just plain ‘goofy,’ ” Mr. Kuo writes.
I have nothing against religion. You have a constitutional right to believe and worship whatever you want. Just keep your religion OUT of government, period. That same Constitution that protects ALL religions also requires that religion stays OUT of government. You can try and spin it or deny it or say it's time for change but the Constitution is clear. You can be religious and still take part in government of course. Jimmy Carter is an extremely religious person but has always known there needs to be separation. There is a wall between church and state.
Bush has played the fundamentalist right for his political advantage, nothing more but a source of money and votes.

Oh, that pesky little "separation of church and state"...you know the principle our country was founded upon!!

Karen,
Ralph Reed is the poster boy for these weasels. Hopefully that Casino scam will put an end to his slimy legacy.

Yea, Pam, that little "separation of church and state".
Of course, Pat Robertson will argue it dosen't exist. He prefers the model we have in Iraq.
